Huge clash where Atalanta is the favorite to qualify in my opinion.

Marseille is 7th in the Ligue 1, out of all european competitions at the moment. They have had a poor season so far, but in the Europa League they are doing well beating strong teams like Villarreal or Benfica, although they struggled a lot to do it in both stages.

Their main threat is undoubtedly Aubameyang, the tournament’s topscorer with 10 goals. Marseille is an offensive team and will push a lot in the first minutes, as they have a huge home support and will play highly motivated. Atalanta need to be care with this and try to keep Marseille far from their area in the first 15-20 minutes, which is where Marseille will make a higher and harder pressure.

Starter Defender Samuel Gigot is suspended. Another starter defender - Mbemba is injured. Other rotation players are also injured or not signed up in the UEL, such as Ulisses García, Jean Onana or Pape Gueye.

The wings will be the key here. Atalanta uses a 3-5-2 system with strong wings, and Marseille need to be careful with this as it’s where Atalanta generates a lot of danger, especially with Davide Zappacosta and Matteo Ruggeri. I believe that Atalanta has faced stronger teams in the UEL so far, and made better performances. In terms of quality it’s a 50-50 game, where Marseille has the home advantage but Atalanta has less fatigue. I see this finishing with a draw and Atalanta qualifying in the second leg at home.
