Newcastle has only 3 points so far, but the schedule could not had been more difficult as you see from results with expected goals xG-numbers as well:

City were too good, but that will happen to almost any City opponent this season, vs LIverpool and Brighton they were perhaps a bit unlucky. There was however a red card for Liverpool's Van Dijk in the game and Newcastle took the lead, so, well.. it was a disastrous result in the end! Now they have had a two weeks rest, and we can see them to climb soon to at least top-6. Or will we? There is soon pressure coming unless the results turn a to better course.

Brentford on the other hand have avoided loss so far:

The results are better, they could have even a few more points, but it seems they can have an even game against anyone, even to win anyone by believing in their own style and long-term plan and commitment.

There are missing players at both camps. Brentford have so far managed to cope without Ivan Toney in the attack, but the defense is not as solid they would need to win the games.

Home advantage is strong at Newcastle, but there is one key factor we should not dismiss, and it is the upcoming Champion's league fixture away at AC Milan, already on Tuesday! No one in the organization, no one of the players want to miss it, as it is a dream to come true for the Newcastle team who a few years ago were heading into Championship and even lower before the big financiers came aboard.

Both teams should find themselves in top-6 this season, and I never estimate Newcastle as this big favorite ahead of a CL-tie, against a good side!
