The top two outfits in Euro 2024 qualifying Group C square off in Saturday's tantalising showdown. Due to the hosts’ ongoing invasion at the hands of Russia, the Polish city of Wroclaw will stage a fixture which promises to be a crucial one for both teams. The Three Lions will endeavour to make it 15 points from a possible 15. Saturday's clash will mark a renewal of hostilities six months on from Ukraine's 2-0 beating at the hands of England at Wembley, which saw Sergiy Rebrov's team get off to the worst possible start in the preliminary rounds before an enthralling 3-3 friendly draw with 2024 hosts Germany. There was more for Ukraine to smile about when competitive action resumed in June, though, as a captivating 3-2 win over North Macedonia, in which they came from two goals down to prevail, preceded a 1-0 triumph over Malta courtesy of a Viktor Tsygankov penalty. For this encounter, I am expecting a win for England for the following reasons:

Firstly. England have romped to four wins from four to top Group C, scoring 15 goals and conceding just one having beaten Ukraine 2-0 at Wembley in March. Another win here will surely seal their ticket to Germany. England will be looking for their 600th win in men’s international football on Saturday as they face Ukraine. Should they do so, they’d be the first European nation to reach that landmark. Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka have been in fine form for England. England captain Harry Kane will be looking to score in a seventh successive international appearance for his nation. While, Saka has been involved in nine goals in his last nine games for England (seven goals, two assists), including a hat-trick in his last appearance versus North Macedonia. These two's form, along Jude Bellingham's lightening form in La Liga should be making difference for England in this fixture.

Secondly. March's defeat to the Three Lions represents Ukraine's sole defeat from their last 13 European Championship qualifying battles, but with the added disadvantage of not playing on familiar territory, making it to a fourth finals in a row may be more of a tall order this time around. Ukraine did not shine at all in recent matches in June, beating both group underdogs by a single-goal margin only and completing a crazy second-half comeback away against North Macedonia along the way. Ukraine clearly have defensive issues after conceding two or more goals in three of the last four matches. This is why this does not bode a promising sign ahead of the clash against one of the deadliest attacking units in Europe.

It is very hard to look past England here. They have so much quality in their ranks and they would be favorites against almost any team on the continent right now. England have dominated Group C so far and should be able to once again get the better of Ukraine here. It is a win to England for me.
