Manchester United won’t have the new signing Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund completed a £72m transfer to the Reds earlier this month but the announcement was delayed after a stress hotspot fracture of the back was flagged during his medical.

United sent Hojlund to London for extensive examinations before they finalised the deal and the Denmark international could have to wait until next month for his debut.

Marcus Rashford started up front in the Reds’ penultimate pre-season friendly against Lens at Old Trafford and scored while Jadon Sancho lined up at centre forward in four of the first-team’s seven friendlies. Anthony Martial resumed team training on the tour of the US and is available for selection again but has not played in 11 weeks.

“We are not in a rush,” Ten Hag said.

“We know without him we have also a strong team and the position is covered. So we don’t rush in this.

Wolves are in a typical situation after years under Jorge Mendes’ control. Like Valencia in la Liga, Wolves’ owner reduced the investment and the team demonstrates no ambition, with a weakened squad.
