First round of EPL, an interesting game between Newcastle and Aston Villa. Both teams had a similar growth last seasons.

After a 4th place last year with eventual qualification in Champions League, the expectations are more higher for Newcastle this season.

To be ready for the big competition Newcastle strengthened further in the summer, buying Sandro Tonali from Milan and Harvey Barnes from Leicester and at the same time keeping almost all of the strongest players the only relevant transfer so far is that of Saint-Maximin confirming the solidity of their investments.

In preseason friendlies Newcastle didn't lost a game, winning against Villarreal,Fiorentina,Brighton,Rangers and Gateshad while draw against Aston Villa and Chelsea. For this game coach Howe have a full roster to choose from.

Last season Aston Villa made an amazing comeback made possible thanks to the work of coach Unai Emery. In a few weeks they went from fighting against relegation to Europe, finishing with a 7th place. A placement that earned him a return to Europe, to that Conference League which in the last edition was won by an English team, West Ham. Aston Villa also made a wise transfer market signing 2 top players like Diaby from Leverkursen and def Pau Torres from Villarreal.

In preseason they beat Lazio, Fulham and Valencia while draw against Brentford and Newcastle.

I don't see big differences between the teams, despite that the pressure is all on Newcastle.
