KuPS vs IFK Mariehamn (MIFK)

KuPS welcome visitors from the island of Åland in southwestern Finland for this Veikkausliiga battle at Väre Areena. My fans and I got back to winning yesterday when Honka completely dominated and eventually crushed Ilves 4-0 in Tampere. Ilves did get a red card in the first half, but Honka were in control even before that and odds in live betting were slashed right from the kickoff and were around 1.65 before the 0-1 goal. We have now won 7/8 of the bets on the highest tier of Finnish football often with quite good odds! There is no reason to doubt the fact that we will keep on winning – there are still a few months of the Veikkausliiga season left. We have gone against KuPS many times this season in handicap betting and won almost every time.. Let’s take a closer look at the match..

Two weeks ago KuPS were tired after a trip to Moldova where they played against a local team, Milsami, in Conference League qualification and went on to lose to Haka away from home after a pretty lame performance. Haka are a good team at home though. This Thursday they got another beating from Swiss Young Boys losing 0-3 and returned to Helsinki on Friday. Once again, the preparation for a Veikkausliiga match is not optimal. It would have been a surprise to see them qualify over Young Boys but losing 0-5 on aggregate is surely not good for their self-confidence.. Moreover, their excellent coach Simo Valakari applied for a job at Scottish Motherwell but was not picked after all. Surely not the best atmosphere in the team at the moment.. KuPS have now gone four games without a win and do not top the standings anymore in Veikkausliiga, Honka do. Finally KuPS’s true class which is the second-best - and much lower than the betting market seems to estimate - in Veikkausliiga after HJK is revealed! Honka are only a bit worse than KuPS and the two teams in fact played a high-level by Veikkausliiga standards match last week in Kuopio and it was a 1-1 draw. KuPS were slightly better overall but for the last 40 minutes Honka, with fresh legs dominated and in fact did create more in expected goals – 1.02-0.73. Many KuPS’ players looked quite fatigued in the second half..

Despite all the negative things I have written about KuPS they are still very clear favorites here with a 63% chance to win as MIFK are only in the 9th place in my power rating that reflects the teams’ pure class. However, as some of my fans already know they have improved significantly starting from July and have some new players too. The vibe within and around the club is positive. Last Saturday they comfortably beat Haka 2-0 at home after a very solid performance – especially defensively. Before this they brought us a winner when they lost only 0-1 in Helsinki against HJK and even had a few chances to make it 1-1 in the second half and steal a point. KuPS will surely control the match, but MIFK are very dangerous on the counterattacks as HJK’s coach Toni Koskela mentioned after the match. The teams met early May in Åland and it was a 1-1 draw and MIFK are much better now! They have a 64% chance to avoid losing by more than one goal’s difference! 1-0 if I would have to predict a score.
