Vitoria Guimaraes vs Sporting CP

The goal this season for Guimaraes was to fight for the 4th place with Sporting Braga but that goal is far away, even they are in 6th place they are current 10 points behind Braga and 9 points behind Gil Vicente and to be fair, so far Guimaraes season has been weak, I was expecting way more from them this season especially with this Coach that I really like but overall the team just can't find their groove has an collective team, they just too many mistakes during games that costed them big points during the whole season and even they are coming to this game with two nice wins over Famalicao at home and Maritimo on the road the team still have the same issues that usually get exposed against the elite teams in Portugal, for example, they already played 4 games in the league against Benfica, Porto and Sporting and lost all those 4 games. For this game Guimaraes are without Handel and Catamo. Ferreira is doubtful.

Sporting can put all their focus in the league now since they got eliminated from the Champions League and the Portuguese Champion from last season are right now in 2nd place and 6 points behind Porto, so Sporting can't really afford to lose more points too Porto or it's pratically impossible to recover since in this league the great teams rarely lose points. Sporting overall has having a good season my opinion, the won two Cup's already, passed the group stage in the Champions League and in the league they are still fighting for the title, they are still the best defensive team in the league and their big issue this season is been their attack who has really been their weakness this season, however, with Edwards and Slimani coming to the team Sporting has looked very good in the attack too and these two players are a big part of their success lately. For this game Sporting is without Feddal who is suspended.

Match-up wise Guimaraes is a nice fit for Sporting, Guimaraes has a coach who plays attacking football even against the big clubs and that's one of the reasons why Guimaraes usually losses this type of games but overall I also like Sporting here because with Edwards and Slimani, Sporting attack got a nice upgrade and they really look dangerous now and Edwards was an ex player from Guimaraes and key player for them and usually the player who always created danger in the games against Porto, Benfica and Sporting, now Edwards is at Sporting so I expect Sporting's defensive line to put Guimaraes in check here. I see Sporting taking the 3 points here, with all their focus in the League right now Sporting can really make a run of wins in a row like last season and put some pressure on Porto here, I see them beating Guimaraes by 2:0 or 2:1 here.
