Barcelona is in great form, probably in the best moment of the season. They are playing well, scoring goals and getting good results. The morale is high thanks to the great performances in the last two games, both difficult away fixtures: Napoles (2:4) and Valencia (1:4).

In La Liga they are in good form too as they achieved to be in the top4 (Champions League) and now they just need to continue getting good results. The main problem of Barcelona with Xavi as coach was the huge amount of chances they needed to score, but now the problem looks solved with Aubameyang and other players in great form.

They are scoring goals easily and that is great news, because they continue dominating the matches as well. So the result of both things combined is that right now Barcelona is a very difficult team to beat.

On the other hand, Athletic is a team with two different faces, depending if they play at home or away. At home they are a very intense team, making a high pressure and playing at 200%. But away they are more defensive, struggle to score goals (10 in 13 games, 3 in one game against Osasuna) and much less intense. Their motivation decreases playing away and that’s why they have been in the middle of the table in the last few seasons.

The most important fact - they have a very important game next Wednesday (just 3 days after this one) against Valencia: Cup semifinals second leg (drew 1:1 in the previous one). They have big chances to win the title because the other teams involved are Rayo Vallecano and Betis.

Because of that, coach Marcelino will make some rotations to rest some players (starters) who have small injuries, such as Vencedor (midfielder), Yeray (central back) and maybe some more. Also starter Berenguer (midfielder) is suspended. Surely the whole club is focused in the important game against Betis, trying to avoid injuries and be at 100% in that game which is the most important one.

To play against Barcelona is always a motivation, but the Spanish Cup (and the chance to win a title) is higher. Also historically, Barcelona in Camp Nou use to dominate and win Athletic Club - last results: 2:1, 1:0, 1:1, 2:0, 3:0, 3:1, 3:1, 6:0.

I’m expecting a match where Barcelona will easily control the possession and seeing their good level upfront, we should see goals for the home side. This added to the distraction that Athletic has this week makes me think that they won’t be able to be at 100%, as it must be to achieve points at Camp Nou.
