This is a bit strange, as TPS have always been eager to return to Veikkausliiga, but they have consistently failed with big-budget teams. Now, they have significantly cut their player budget and are winning round after round! The hosts KäPa are ambitious youngsters whose focus is on developing the players, not on staying in any particular league. It shows in the results! More below:

KäPa, coached by Lari Lummepuro, currently sits second to last in the Ykkösliiga table. They have collected just 5 points from 12 matches with a record of 1 win, 2 draws, and 9 losses, and a goal difference of 18–40.

In the previous round, KäPa extended their winless run to six games after suffering their third straight defeat, this time losing 1–3 to JIPPO at Ilosaarirock Stadium in Joensuu last Sunday.

JIPPO had pulled ahead with Jyri Kiuru scoring what proved to be the winner in the 10th minute. The lead was extended in the 48th minute after an assist from Maximus Tainio, and Miro Turunen added a third in the 84th minute.

Most recently, TPS secured their sixth straight victory by beating JäPS 4–2 at Veritas Stadium last Friday. 6 wins in a row!

Onni Helén scored TPS’s first two goals in the 18th and 20th minutes. JäPS responded with goals from Julius Salo in the 42nd minute and Mosawer Ahadi in the 51st to draw level. However, late strikes from Tuomas Pippola in the 87th minute and Albijon Muzaci in the 96th secured the win for the home side.

Helén and Pippola are tied at the top of TPS’s scoring chart with nine goals each and currently share the lead in the league's goal-scoring rankings. Helén has also contributed one assist. Muzaci has scored five times, and Emu Kawakita has three goals.

TPS has beaten KäPa in their last five home matches. Despite this, TPS is the clear favorite based on current form. KäPa has lost three of its five home games by at least two goals, and a similar result is likely here.
