Inter Turku VS FC Haka

Inter welcome Haka for this Veikkausliiga battle at Veritas Stadion in Turku Saturday evening Beijing time. This is the first tier of Finland but the level of this league is poor by European standards. However, football fans and us serious football bettors can expect a game of better than mediocre level by thus league's standards here. Both teams have played only nine games so far. KuPS and SJK have played 11 matches already.. The rest of the teams have played nine or 10 matches. Most importantly, we have another very lucrative betting opportunity here. We have won 11/14 last picks betting on Veikkausliiga. Yes, Inter have performed well but have consequently become much too hot on the betting market!  The team from Turlly have been praised in the Finnish football media a lot in the early season.. In particular the ultra-skilled, young Ivorian  attacking midfielder A. Kouame, 21, has been excellent and will most probably be sold to a much bigger club in the summer transfer window – for an approximately 0.8-1.3 million euros. .. However, let's remember that Inter did not even make it to the top-6 last season and are not among the top-3 teams on paper in Veikkausliiga.. Furthermore, probably very few professional bettors ranked them in the top-3 before the season started. My point here is that we should not overreact to their better-than-expected performances.. Inter have scored 18 goals and have conceded six goals in Veikkausliiga. However, their number of xG per game is "only" 1.82. Inter's number of expected goals allowed (xGA) per match is significantly bigger than the actual number of 0.67. Inter definitely have an edge over Haka in all areas of the game but the current odds of around 1.45 on the home win are not justified at all.  The Hala +1.5 goals handicap option is the obvious clever bet here.

Inter have won only three of their last six games – and just one of their last six matches by a margin of more than one goal! In their most recent game they defeated Jaro, currently in 10th/12 place, as clear favourites on the betting market.. Especially taking into account Jaro's J. Brunell's (very stupid and totally unnecessary) red card in the 24th minute Inter's performance – even taking into account the poor (natural grass) pitch – Inter's performance did not excite me as a whole. Indeed, Inter had only 54% ball possession and recorded just three more total shots – 11-8 to be precise. Moreover, Inter had only one big scoring chance and generated only 0.10 more in xG than Jaro. Before this Inter defeated SJK, a team with many very  important players out, 1-0 on the road as clear favorites according to the bookies. Inter recorded only one big scoring chance but did unarguably well, allowing SJK none.. It was a solid – but not overly impressive performance from Inter.. SJK, too, had their chances to net the ball, recording 11 total shots. Before this Inter were good at home, beating Ilves 3-1. However, Ilves had many more total shots on Inter and recorded only one big scoring chance..  On the 10th of May Inter were disappointing, failing to defeat MIFK in Mariehamn - despite being priced around 1.40 to win on the betting market! It was a 2-2 draw and MIFK,too, could easily have taken all three points..

Unlike Inter, Haka played in the Championship Group at the end of the season! There were (again) many changes in the squad after last season but mainly thanks to their very passionate head coach, Andy Smith – the pretty straightforward tactics of Haka have been a positive surprise performance-wise this season! The players seem to be very committed and fight hard for every (loose) ball.Haka are in 7th place in the standings with 11 points to their account and have a score difference of 12:14. However, I want to emphasize they have been somewhat unlucky in terms of expected points (xPTS), xG and xGA - and would deserve more respect from the bookies!  They have not lost any of their last four games – winning three of their last matches! In their last match, earlier this week, they beat Gnistan 3-2 at home in a Suomen Cup (Finnish Cup) match. Haka were not at their best in the 1st half but were strong in the last 45 minutes – deserving to qualify. Before this they beat VPS, a team that finished in 5th place last season, 2-1 at home. Haka recorded more total shots, shots on goal, big scoring chances and also generated more in xG! It was a solid performance from Haka as a whole.  Before this the team from Valkeakoski swept past Union Plaani 6-0 at home in the Suomen Cup!
