Pihlström has added bite and energy, while Rafferty seems to enjoy the freedom offered by the system. That front four, while not elite in name, are more than capable of causing havoc against disorganised defences – something Göteborg currently specialise in.

Defensive frailties remain, of course. Degerfors do leak chances, especially when stretched or asked to defend in transition. But at home, against a side low on confidence and identity, it’s a risk they can afford to take. Especially given that Goteborg haven’t looked close to cohesive in their own build-up play.

The real problem with Göteborg isn't just the results – it's the football. There’s a visible lack of clarity in what Billborn wants this team to do. Endless crosses into the box, with no cutting edge, no second-ball control, and no real structure behind the ball once possession is lost. It’s almost as if they’ve run out of ideas, falling back on hopeful deliveries that are easy to defend. That kind of predictable play doesn’t cut it when confidence is already on the floor.
