Malmö's trip to Degerfors looks like the perfect opportunity for the reigning champions to remind everyone why they are still the team to beat in Swedish football. There’s also the mental aspect. Malmö know they are under pressure, and they will approach this game with a do-or-die mentality. Players like Hugo Larsson, Kiese Thelin, and potentially even a returning Christiansen, are capable of deciding these matches on their own. And even if Degerfors manage to nick a goal – which isn’t impossible considering Malmö’s recent defensive wobbles – you’d still back the visitors to outscore them comfortably.

It’s time for Malmö to put their foot down in the title race again, and this feels like the kind of fixture where their quality and urgency align. A convincing away win wouldn’t be a surprise.

HAMMARBY - NORRKOPING

Hammarby host IFK Norrköping this Sunday in what could be a crucial fixture in the Allsvenskan title race, especially with the possibility of Bajen climbing to the top of the table depending on other results. On current form, it would take a brave person to bet against them. Since the season kicked off, Hammarby have looked sharp, organised and dangerous, suffering just one loss — away at an in-form Mjällby — and drawing once against Häcken. They’ve won their other five matches, conceding only four goals in total, three of which came in the same game. This is not just a good start — it’s title-contending form.

Their most recent performance was a dominant 3-0 away win over newcomers Öster, a match where Nahir Besara stepped up with two goals and reminded everyone of his importance in that advanced midfield role. Even without star striker Jusef Erabi, who had to leave the match early due to injury, Hammarby looked fluid and efficient in attack. Whether Erabi is fit to feature this weekend remains unclear, but the depth in the squad — including the emerging form of Paulos Abraham — means that Bajen are well-equipped to handle such absences.

In truth, this feels like a mismatch on current form and structure. Hammarby are playing with momentum, cohesion and confidence, while Norrköping are still trying to build something that’s not quite ready for a game of this intensity. Unless Nyman has one of those inspired performances and Hammarby are unusually wasteful, it’s hard to see past a home win here.
