Barcelona is chasing no fewer than four trophies this season. They've already secured the Spanish Super Cup. With Tuesday’s win over Mallorca, their lead in La Liga remained at four points, and next week the Champions League semifinals against Inter begin. But before that, there’s another trophy on the line: the Copa del Rey. The setup for the match isn’t ideal, as star striker Robert Lewandowski is dealing with a thigh injury. In Tuesday’s match against Mallorca, Blaugrana fired 40 shots and created over three goals’ worth of expected goals, but narrowly won just 1–0. Lewandowski trained separately from the team on Thursday, and logically should miss this match — but after Tuesday’s lackluster finishing, the temptation to play him will surely be strong.

Real Madrid played Getafe away in La Liga on Wednesday without star forward Kylian Mbappé and starting fullback Ferland Mendy, but both were rested as a precaution for this match. Los Blancos were eliminated from the Champions League by Arsenal, and the La Liga title isn’t in their own hands either. A Copa del Rey victory would therefore carry great significance for the Madrid side. Regarding the starting lineup, the biggest questions center around Real’s formation and, for instance, Fede Valverde’s position. It wouldn’t be surprising if coach Carlo Ancelotti used Valverde as a right back to neutralize Raphinha.

The match will be played in Seville on neutral ground. Barca has been the better side this season, winning both previous encounters in the Spanish Super Cup and La Liga with emphatic scores of 5–2 and 4–0. However, the possible absence of Lewandowski evens out the pre-match outlook, or does it?

Barcelona has been wonderful most of the times, and also won those matches that have been more difficult.
