Straight from the top of my head I was expecting -1 handicap for Bayern to win this one. However, the bookmakers are being very generous and evidently overreacting to Haaland’s return to action. The Norwegian sensation has been going through a rough 2021/22 season, dealing too much with injuries and now even been rumoured to have chronical issues with knees.

He had made a dream comeback the other week, scoring vs. Wolfsburg in a short 17 minute cameo. There are natural concerns if he’d be ok to do a full game against the likes of Bayern. Moreover, I would also doubt he is at his best instantly after a break in action for nearly 2.5 months. Haaland was initially injured on September 19th, appeared in the 3-1 win over Mainz in mid October only to fall out again.

With Haaland away Borussia has been a proper mess. They produced an embarrassing performance in the Champions League group, losing fair and square to Sporting and Ajax (1-3 and 0-4 against the Dutch champion, for example).

On the domestic front they’ve managed to do better, mostly thanks to a favourable schedule - Arminia, Koln, Stuttgart and shaky Wolfsburg. The only time they were given a serious test, RB Leipzig, the result was negative - 1-2 defeat with almost no chances for any other outcome.

Bayern does not need any extra introduction. A brief review of their situation would include the C19 spike, that’s affected them but not to a great extent.
