Tenerife host Girona at Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López for this Spanish Segunda division battle tonight. This is is very interesting match betting-wise! Let's take a closer look...

I rate the hosts Tenerife as clearly the better team by raw in my power ratings that illustrate each team's raw class. The hosts are currently in my opinion the 5th best team in this surprisingly high-level and competitive league. Their current position is, however, one place lower - 6th - with 24 points in the bank at the moment. Girona, on the other hand, have been slightly disappointing in my opinion and are currently in 13th with 18 points place but I see them as the 16th best team in this league. I certainly expected more from them them before the season started but especially in offense they have been pretty lame. The often struggle to create even a decent number of scoring chances, in away games and against quality opponents - like Tenerife. They have scored just 15 goals this season - a low number indeed which proves my point about insufficient offensive quality. Even the second last team in the standings, Amorebieta, have found the net 18 times.. Girona's defense, however, is pretty good and I do not expect a big number of goals tonight. In their most recent match they defeated Alcorcon 3-1 at home after a solid performance, but Alcorcon are the rock-bottom team in this league and a very bad team indeed - clearly the weakest one! Their goals difference is 12:31 - horribly bad numbers and they have just eight points so far. I would not give too much emphasis for this win. Before this they defeated Fuenlabrada 2-1 away from home but the hosts - despite being a pretty lowly team with 16 points scored were slightly the better team on the pitch and the win was somewhat undeserved.

The hosts have no particular weaknesses and have played a solid season. Their defense, midfield and strikers are better than those of the visitors'. They are a very balanced team overall. They have had some bad luck in quite a few matches  - watched most of them - and have room for improvement.  There is a special atmosphere in Tenerife, Canary Islands, and despite not having a super good home record lately they usually play well at their stadium. In their most recent home match they comfortably beat Burgos - a decent team - 4-0. They had some 55% ball possession and created 19 scoring chances whereas Burgos had nine. The 4-0 win flatters them but it was a very good performance and I believe they can repeat this tonight!

To sum up, hosts have clearly over 50% to win - Tenerife -0.5 goals handicap is my pick for my fans here!
