I kind of feel sorry for Union Berlin who will be getting a fuming Bayern Munchen side as their opponent on Saturday.

Who could’ve thought the reigning champion would be coming to the capital city fresh off a 0-5 humiliation in Gladbach, where local Borussia showed no mercy and kept going for more and more goals. What’s worse, Bayern had all their top players on the pitch that day, so the reaction has to be even greater to what had gone down in the German Cup.

Not only have Nagelsmann men lost the game, but they also crashed out from the competition meaning they are now 1 title short for the season and have 2 trophies to compete for - Bundesliga and the Champions League. For someone as perfectionist as Bayern this fact is certainly a blow.

The visitors are not going to hold back on Union before the Champions League midweek round, which is coming next for them. The situation in the group stage of elite European competition is under firm control - they will be qualifying to the knock-out phase without breaking sweat.

So all eyes for Bayern is on Union now and I doubt Nagelsmann will be rotating the XI as some experts expect - on the contrary, from the educational point of view, it would be logical if he had put exactly the same set of players out, so they’d have a chance to make up.

Union is not playing to the last season’s standard, partly this has to do with them competing in Europe and thus struggling for fitness and results on the domestic front.

A few issues for the Berlin side before the game as one of their key players Kruse is not fit to start and should only be kept as a sub option. A few C-19 cases in the squad as well but nobody from regulars effected, if to trust media reports from Germany.

My main emphasis is on Bayern’s motivation boost after the 0-5 defeat in midweek. I am positive they are winning this game and doing so by at least 2 goals.
