There is a lot to expect more from a team of Tottenham's class, and to be quite honest they have been really poor this season and luck and variance are the main reasons behind their 12 points from 7 games. That is about double the amount they would had deserved according to performances and xG-data.
Why back them with such a short looking odds then, away, against the richest club in the world?
Well, Newcastle are even in a lot weaker situation right now, they have been perhaps the weakest team of all so far, and basically the only time they would had deserved more from their games was away at equally poor Watford.
There are a lot of absentees and doubts at both sides, I list them later, but Tottenham can still field an excellent starting lineup. The main reason however to go against is exactly the business done recently, it may perhaps turn Newcastle into a Champions' league favourite in a few times, but right now it only makes things worse.

Tottenham have been a disaster but their latest match was finally a win, and against a decent opponent Aston Villa. And they looked good for a change! Tottenham have the excuse of having met most of the top teams, and mentally they are in a better place as all the attention is in the hosts.

The team news tell us that Newcastle miss for sure Dummet and Almiron, Joe Willock, Callum Wilson, Jamaal Lascelles, Martin Dubravka and Freddie Woodman are doubts.

On paper Tottenham absentee list is longer, but as also the squad is classier and wider it means less.

Davinson Sanchez, Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero, Emerson Roya , Ryan Sessegnon, Steven Bergwijn, Matt Doherty and Ben Davies are more or less likely out.

The markets have gone up and down with this, no doubt there are questionmarks, but in my papers Newcastle will suffer from this at least until January.
Interesting match!
