FC Copenhagen vs Lincoln Red Imps

Copenhagen welcome visitors from Gibraltar at Parken Stadium for this UEFA Conference League group stage round 2 clash. Lincoln Red Imps have been one the biggest positive surprise in UEFA's club competitions. However, I believe Copenhagen, who finished in 3rd place last season in the pretty high-level Danish Superliga, will be a way too tough opponent for them to deal with. Let's take a closer look..

Copenhagen are a team of totally different caliber than the visitors! Finishing third was actually a big disappointment for a team that have played in the Champions League many times in the past. They have started the season in the Superliga very well and are currently in second place  - one point behind Midtjylland. They have won seven of the ten matches and lost just one match and have dominated most of the matches in terms of expected goals. In Europe the Danes have played will this season and comfortably beat Slovan Bratislava in Slovakia 3-1 in the opening round of group stage. Slovan Bratislava are a good team for this competition - their players' total market value according to well-respected German website, Transfermark.com, is some 14 million euros. The final score 3-1 flatters the Danes a bit but still it was a very good performance in front of enthusiastic Slovakian fans. In the last round of qualifying they crushed a pretty big Turkish team Sivasspor 7-1 on aggregate. Sivasspor's players total market value is close to thirty million so the result proves how good the Danes are! In Copenhagen they humiliated the Turks 5-0 and are traditionally very good team at home. If they can reach even close to the level they have performed lately today, they will comfortable sweep past the visitors from Gibraltar.

I am pretty convinced the Red Imps players could not even dream of making it all the way to group stage before the qualification started as their previous success in Europe is very limited. In terms of players market value of 0.90 million euros Red Imps are clearly the smallest team in this competition.. This is a ridiculously low number at this level! Gibraltar are very small football country - one of the smallest in Europe in fact. The domestic league is very low level - and only six team participating! Red Imps winning most of their matches - 15/20 last season -  in this league does not impress me at all. They have played pretty well in Europe this season but have not beaten opponents of this level before the group stage. In their opening match they faced Greek PAOK Thessaloniki -  who are about the same level as Copenhagen in my power ratings. They did not have a true chance to challenge for the win and lost 0-2 at home. In an away match it will very difficult for them today..

To sum up, the I expect the hosts the dominate this match and the chance of them winning by at least three goals is clearly over 60%. Copenhagen -2.5 goals handicap is fan my pick for my growing fan base.
