In my opinion Atalanta have really good chances to make at least one point in today's match up.

Atalanta plays in Champions League group stage for the third season in a row. In last two years they were able to pass group stage. Team not changed a lot in comparison to the previous season. All players from today's line up played in last Champions League edition for club from Bergamo. Today we will see on the pitch all key players like Gosens, Malinovskiy or Zapata. I believe this is but advantage because team have good flow, rhythm and work patterns.

On the other hand this first Champions League group stage for Villarreal in last decade. For sure they don't have good memories from last participation as they lost all 6 matches then..

Villarreal had very long season behind, they won Europa League Final. Looks like they overplayed and currently they are without a form for a while. They didn't win any friendly match in pre season. They lost Super Cup game against Chelsea and they didn't won any of 3 La Liga matches so far. Since July they played 11 matches and they failed to win 11 times. Confidence in team must be on very low level.

Villarreal last home win in Champions League happened in 2008. It's hard to see their win today as well. Their two top players not helping team at the moment. Paco Alcacer (6 goals in 10 Europa League matches in last season) will not play in first team today. Other star Gerard Moreno (7 goals + 3 assists in Europa League last year) will play today, but he looks out of form at the moment and not producing numbers on the level from previous season.

I believe Atalanta knows have important this match is, especially if Manchester United is in this group. Atalanta coming here for the win and in my opinion they have all required tools to do it. Italian team for sure is full of confidence-they won 5 of last 6 away matches in Champions League. This is really impressive result. They love to play from quick counter attacks. They started slow in Serie A (1-1-1 balance), but when they played on away against Torino they recorded win 2:1.

Villarreal stars are out of form, Atalanta is superb on away and have bigger experience at this stage last years. Confidence and form as well is on their side. I don't see hosts as a favorite here.
