Nimes is hands down in top 3 worst teams I’ve seen in action this season across European elite leagues. Their problems are fundamental and are unlikely to be fixed any time in this campaign. If I was looking for a long-term bet, Nimes to be relegated would top the short-list of options.

Visitors head into the Wednesday with a few interesting anti-records to their name. The most intriguing of which would be the highest number of allowed shots per game - averaging at 15.1. No wonder Nimes’ are runaway leaders for the number of conceded goals - 34 in 17 games. Suspension of regular central defender Floriant Miguel is definitely not going to make things better for the away side. Miguel joins more injured centre-backs Loick Landre and Pablo Martinez, as well as captain Anthony Briancon. With the central zone of defense being so thin, it’s fair to expect major issues for Nimes on this trip to Strasbourg.

Strasbourg is equally horrendous at the defensive end, having conceded only 2 goals less in 17 rounds. But on the positive side of things, they are one of the highest scoring teams in the 2nd half of the table. Strasbourg were going ok under the same manager Laurey last season (11th) before COVID interfered with a more/less similar squad, so their current position is definitely an underachievement.

No issues for hosts team news wise - top summer signing Diallo must return into the starting XI and link up with their top-scorer Ajorque.

Strasbourg should prove too much at this point of the season for Nimes, who are battered by endless defensive issues.
