A good pick here on a relatively slow Sunday.

Spartak II is in shambles at the moment, pretty much like their senior side in the Premier League. They had released most of their best players over summer, as usual, including the most recent departure - striker Rudenko. Manager Yevgeniy Bushmanov, who was assigned back in March 2021, has been doing an average job - having picked up just 6 wins in 18 fixtures and recording an embarrassing 27:46 goal difference.

Prior to losing Rudenko, Spartak II squad also “sacrificed” their leading attacking midfielder Ignatov. He has now become a rotation player for the senior team under Rui Vitoria.

In the last round Spartak were outplayed fair and square by Veles Moscow (2-0) in a game they had created very little and left a poor impression.

Earlier season wins against troubled Kuban (2-1) or Yenisey (2-1) do not suggest much as, it so happened, that both teams were getting rid of their managers at the time.

Alania have not lost a single player from the season they finished 4th and are aiming to win promotion again. They’ve had a relatively slow start, but have picked up the pace in the last 2 rounds, scoring 6 in the process. It means the attacking compartment has hit the stride, following some questionable displays in the opening 3 rounds.

One of the key factors to bare in mind here is the fans number. Spartak II traditionally has a really low attendance (about 100 on average), while Alania always have around 200-300 active fans in any match held in Moscow. Today will be no exception, meaning visitors are going to feel “at home” with such a serious advantage in the number of supporters.

I believe Alania has the edge in terms of form and quality at the moment, plus greater fans to support the pick on away win.
