Lille the reigning champions of Ligue I started the season with an important win against PSG in Israel 1-0 for the trophy of Supercup.

In Ligue I they managed to get a draw against Metz 3-3 but the game was difficult,as they were already 3-1 for most of the time.

This season Lille is weakned a lot and hardly will fight for the title again. Key players gk Maignan, mid Soumare left to other top teams but most important lost was the coach Galtier. He was replaced by Jocelyn Gourvennec, who is not a coach of high level and his last experience was in 2019 with Guingamp.

Owners said that it's not excluded other players will leave till the end of transfer market.

Nice in other hand have good ambitions at least for this season. They hired ex-Lille coach Galtier which is a good sign since he had many offers but choose the french team.

The fact of having signed Galtier demonstrates the great ambitions of Nice.They were already a strong team but with new signigns of Calvin Stengs, Pablo Rosario from AZ Alkmaar, Justin Kluivert from Rome, Lemina from Southampton and Todibo from Barcellona team is more complete.

Both teams should be considered for top places in Ligue I but I think odds should be more balanced. The fact that Lille is reigning champions could affect it but Nice have a really strong team this year.
