Lecce's goal against Empoli came from Santiago Pierotti, who headed home Antonino Gallo's elegant cross into the box to equalise a quarter of an hour before full time. Pietro Pellegri had given Empoli a 1-0 lead from the edge of the box just over half an hour into the opening period. The expected goal difference (xG) was recorded at 1.4 to 0.6 in favour of Lecce.

Lecce's Zambian striker Lameck Banda is out with a broken ankle, which is why Giampaolo will likely start Pierotti. The same scoundrel last scored the equalizer for his team against Empoli after coming on as a substitute in the opening period for Banda, who injured himself.
