I see Sweden as my favorite here.
Sweden made a great game against Spain (0-0), making a great defense and being a bit dangerous in attack thanks to the quality of Isak. To be such defensive (25% possession) isn’t their style, but was successful. Now they have real chances to qualify for ⅛ finals.
In this game they will have the ball possession and I think will dominate the match. This happened previously against similar sides to Slovakia and they won (2-0 vs Armenia, 2-0 vs Finland, 1-2 vs Russia, 3-0 vs Kosovo).Recently, only lost against strong teams who dominated them, like France, Portugal, Croatia or Demark (where had 40% possession).
Key player Kulusevski is back and available for the coach after missing the first game against Spain due to Covid. With Isak and Kulusevski, Sweden has a very dangerous attack. And as they showed in the first round, their defence is solid and totally able to keep the goal to nil against talented and quality strikers (in spite that Slovakia has a very weak squad).
Slovakia achieved a victory in the first game vs Poland. But there are some reasons for that: Poland made an awful performance, Slovakia was helped by a deflected shot that ended up being pushed into goal by the goalkeeper. Poland then ended up with a player sent off, and conceded a goal from a corner.
According to my analysis, Slovakia was the weakest team in this group. As said in my previous pick (Poland - Slovakia): They were pretty lucky in the qualification stage, as they had to play the playoff (because ended 3rd in their group) winning both games with luck: Had to win against Ireland in penalties and then, against North Ireland scoring the winning goal at 110’ (extra time).
They don't have big names, their best player is the central back Milan Skriniar (Inter Milan). Others like Hamsik (35 years old) who were important in the past are at the end of their career, already playing in weak teams (Goterborg).
Definitely I see Sweden with much more quality here. Their recent performances have been very convincing and should be able to qualify for the next round. But to do that, they need to win this match. Slovakia were dominated by Poland even with one man down (they had 44% possession).
Slovakia will also miss Vavro due to covid, but he isn’t an important player. Best striker Schranz continues to be injured for this match.
Surely Slovakia will try to be defensive here and achieve the draw, because with 4 points would be almost qualified to ⅛ finals. But I hope that Sweden with their talented striked can find the way to score and win the three points here.
