I’m expecting a comfortable game for England.

England is between the 3-4 main candidates to win the trophy, along with France, Belgium and maybe Portugal or Germany. They have an excellent squad, especially with a very strong attack with the team leader Harry Kane, the main candidate to be the EURO topscorer.

English football already showed how strong they are in Europe in the UCL (english final between Man City and Chelsea) and playing the UEL final (Manchester United). And the Three Lions also showed how ready they are for this competition. They have experience (played ½ finals in the last World Cup) and made a great qualification stage.

Just Maguire is out who is an important defender, but England is a good defensive team who doesn't depend just on one player.

On the other hand, Croatia has very small chances of success in this tournament. They aren’t the same team who played the last World Cup final in 2018. Players are almost the same, but the level is very different.

In the last WC, Croatia had 3-4 top class players, with Modric and Rakitic as leaders. But now their squad is so poor, Rakitic is totally out of form, Modric (who has 35 years old) ended the season with Real Madrid exhausted, the defence is terrible with players like Vrsaljko who has been reserve in Atletico Madrid, and Lovren is doubtful (most probably will miss this game).

In attack, Croatia also doesn't have strong strikers as they had in the past. They had a very easy group in the qualification stage (Wales, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Slovakia) and only managed to win 5 of the 8 games played, scoring just 17 goals.

In summary, Croatia’s squad is almost the same as the World Cup but their level is much worse. There wasn’t any top player who irrumped in the national team in the last couple of years.

Their friendlies have not been convincing either: lost against Belgium and drew against Armenia, while England won both and are on a winning streak of 6 games in a row conceding just 1 goal (against weak sides, that’s true also).

I see England dominating at home. Will have fans support and they have motivation to win this tournament, whose final will be played in Wembley. They have enough quality to make a good tournament and winning against Croatia (the strongest team in their group) is the first step. Losing this match, Croatia will continue with many chances to qualify as the other two rivals are so poor (Scotland, Czech Republic).
