Yes, the situation is not optimal for Villa here but the bookies seem to have clearly overreacted to these two factors – and probably would have undervalued Villa even without the injuries and the huge game on Wednesday. Indeed, the current odds of around 1.95 on are generous! I see Villa having a 59% chance of winning. They have a deep squad, full of good enough players to beat the lowly Ipswich! Let's also not forget that according to a well-known and respected German website, Transfermarkt.com, Aston Villa are the bigger team here - by a huge margin! Indeed, their players have an estimated total market value of some 495 million euros! The Ipswich squad is valued at around 161 million - which is unarguably still too high! Four of their players are overvalued. Ipswich will be without Donacien on Sunday – Clarke is questionable.

I rate Ipswich as the worst team in the Premier league! They were promoted from the Championship for this season – despite not being the very best teams in the Championship in terms of expected points (xPTS). Indeed, they had a lot of luck – and a very good manager as well! They lack quality in all areas of the game! I would be very surprised if they were to avoid relegation.. They have three points in their pocket and are in 17th place but their number of xPTS is only 1.78! Their defence is not terrible but their offense lacks everything; individual skill, speed, passing accuracy – the offensive structure is also very poor! Moreover, they have not won any of their last six games.. In their last game they faced another newly promoted team, Southampton, and took a 1-1 draw away from home. Southampton, too, are a very poor team though.. Even so, they generated 1.77 in xG – Ipswich managed only 0.67. Before this they were hugely lucky to take a point from Brighton away from home. Brighton recorded a huge 21 goal attempts. Moreover, Ipswich managed only one shot on target. The xG numbers were 1.97-0.39 but no goals were scored. Aston Villa have won five games in a row and have looked solid and confident on the pitch recently. In round 2 they lost to Arsenal, a top-4 team in the word, at home as clear underdogs 0-2 but generated more than "The Gunners" in xG – 1.88-1.55 to be precise. The score is very misleading! In their last game, Villa deservedly beat Wolves at home 3-1 after a strong performance in the 2nd half. Villa were, for some reason,  far from their best in this game – and the visitors played surprisingly well. Even so, Villa generated 2.21 in xG, Wolves' number was 0.77. In the Champions league opening round Villa swept past Young Boys, a decent Swiss team, 3-0 on the road. It was a great performance from Villa. The xG numbers were very imbalanced -  2.45-0.39 in Villa's favour!
