Normally I would not put much emphasis on latest friendlies, but as they this time bady reveal the Finland problems let us have a look:

The material of Finland is both mediocre, has no width and the lack of actual top players is massive, no one of the top-4 players should be missed, no one of the starting lineup either, and the wings are a massive problem! Top scorer Pukki is recovering from injury and he took part in the latest games, with not much help. Team captain holding midfielder Sparv has not played and is worry. Even if he is slow, he is a vital part. The players Finland absolutely need are keeper Hradecky, striker Pukki, midfielder Kamara and centerbacks Arajuuri and Toivio, and those two especially as a pair as they have grown into one. Arajuuri defends and wins the balls, Toivio opens the play.

In international media Finland has been expected to play a traditional 4-4-2, but it is not going to happen. Against the better teams they always go for 5-3-2 which has brought some decent results, but the matches v better teams like Italy or even Wales have shown that as there are no useful wing-backs for this system the Finland attacks are very rare. There is constant pressure in Finland's box, none in the other one.

It is rather telling that Finland are so short of attacking options that they took a defender from Veikkausliiga, O'Shaughnessy, but not for his defensive skills but because he has very long throws! It is the set pieces and well-timed counters from Lod and Kamara where Finland can score a goal, basically from nowhere else.

I do like the Finnish team, but mostly as persons as they are hard working and polite, nice people. Looking at the club status alone I can not like most of them as players, there is a reason they are from small clubs and not necessarily even starters.

Everyone will know each other teams strenghts and weaknesses well. In Finland team alone there are several players who play or have played in the Danish Superleague. The difference is that the Danes have moved on, most of the squad are starters in the top leagues and top teams, and in head to head comparison Finland do not stand a chance.

In fact the Denmark team is so strong they could be a dark horse! They have lost only 2 games in their last 28, both against Belgium, and they surely had their chances in both.

There is even a normal home advantage with public, and I have to say that I am a bit surprised if Denmark do not cover this handicap.
