Iraq and Oman lock horns in this Asia World Championship Qualification Third stage round 1 battle at Basra International Stadium very early Friday morning Beijing time. Before this they beat an extremely lowly team, Chinese Taipei, 3-0 at Taipei Municipal Stadium. Oman were priced around 1.10-1.15 to win by the bookmakers at the time of kickoff. I will give this win very little emphasis ahead of the very challenging game in Iraq! In March Oman defeated Malaysia on the road 2-0 and were unarguably the better team on the pitch. However, the final score flatters Oman and they did not really excite me with their performance.. Indeed, the hosts, too, had their chances – recording a decent eight goal attempts. Moreover, Malaysia even had more attacks – both teams recorded 73 dangerous attacks.
