HJK Helsinki VS KI Klaksvik

HJK welcome Klaksvik for this UEFA Europa Conference League fourth – and last – round of Qualification 2nd leg battle at Bolt Arena early Friday morning Beijing time. Football fans and us serious, profit-hungry bettors can expect a match of clearly below average quality by this competition's 4th round standards here.. Most importantly, we have a very lucrative betting opportunity here - once again! The visitors come from Faroe Island, the hosts are a Finnish team from my home city of Helsinki. Klaksvik have lost most of their international games on the road.. In the previous round of Qualification (Europa League) they were under huge pressure from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 2nd leg, despite losing only 1-2 to Borac Banja Luka after 90 minutes of play.  Klaksvik, whose players are not even full time footballers (!!!) recorded only one shot on goal in the 120 minutes of play. The Bosnians had 10. Indeed, Klaksvik had deservedly  won 2-1 at home but Banja Luka's S. Herrera was sent off in the 33rd minute when the score was still 1-1. Klasvik failing to extend the lead was surprising and disappointing! Klasvik were relegated/ transferred from the Europa League qualification to the Conference League Qualification. Penalties were needed for HJK to defeat Decic 3-2 on aggregate in the 3rd round of Conference League qualification, but were the better team on the pitch as a whole in the two legs combined.

I want to highlight that Klaksvik, under a new head coach, have been much worse this season than last season when they upset much bigger teams than HJK, for example Ferencvaros and Häcken! Last season's heroic efforts probably still affect their odds.  They are only in 3rd place in the Premier League with 45 points, nine points behind  the leaders, Vikingur. HJK, who have won the Veikkausliiga four times in a row are having a disappointing season, no denying this. However, the bookies have recently overreacted to their struggles! They have had a lot of internal problems related to coaching as well as tactics – or more specifically lack there of.. I will explain the whole "mess" in more detail when I post the next pick on HJK's Veikkausliiga game. HJK's head coach Toni Korkeakunnas is, in all honesty, not a smart coach tactically but he is a likeable guy and under him HJK even beat the romanian champions, Farul, at Bolt Arena 2-0 a year ago in the 4th round of Conference League Qualification after an extremely strong performance! HJK were lame in the 1st leg in Romania, losing 1-2, but improved incredibly much in front of their loud fans at Bolt Arena!

 HJK were very disappointing in the first leg in the Faroe Islands. The weather was very windy which also played a role.. Yes, I cannot emphasize Klasvik's massive home advantage strongly enough! They even beat a good Slovenian team, O. Ljubljana, in the group stage last season 2-0 at home – this season they beat Malmö 3-2 at home but, most importantly, had no chance at all in Sweden, losing 1-4. Even so, it was one the worst performances from HJK this season, despite the 2-2 score. Indeed, Klasvik had their player sent off in the first half when HJK were leading 1-0. HJK must, and most probably will improve hugely in the 2nd leg! Their players are hugely more skilled on average than Klaksvik's,  who play "weird", extremely simple football, often basically just delivering the ball into the opponent's penalty box, creating chaos.. This worked surprisingly well last week, but HJK have surely learned their lesson now! Yes, the Klaksvik players are very fit and physically strong - they also work extremely hard but HJK have players like Luke Plange, a striker on  loan from Crystal Palace, an English Premier League club! Scottish striker Lee Erwin scored two goals last in the first leg and has been on fire since arriving in July.  I believe that especially these guys, along with the moody but  extremely skilled midfielder, Lucas Lingman and the former Finnish national team defender, D. O' Shaugnessy, will make the difference here. O' Shaugnessy is excellent at giving long and precise passes and is very reliable defending the penalty box as well. The he had a long injury break and is improving all the time.. I dare say that none of the Klaksvik players would be a regular starter in HJK..

Odds on HJK are dropping as smart money from betting syndicates and independent sports bettors piles up on them! Odds of over 2.00 on the HJK win in 90 minutes of play are available at the time of writing this analysis Thursday morning Beijing time. Both teams have a pretty good situation in terms of absentees here. Trusting HJK, we have a 61% chance of winning – once again! HJK have won eight of 11 Veikkausliiga games at home, allowing only six goals! In a hypothetical scenario, Klaksvik would definitely be among the worst team in Veikkausliiga. In their last game HJK beat the in-form Inter Turku 1-0 at home despite heavy squad rotation. It was not a flashy but still very solid performance as a whole! Inter had only a few good scoring chances. Klasvik defeated Streymur 2-1 at home in their last match. They were priced around 1.12-1.20 to win by the bookies and did not really impress me even before Ejupi's red card in the 62th minute. According to Transfermarkt.com, a reliable source, HJK are the much bigger team in terms of estimated squad market values.
