Leganés has delivered two great performances so far, with a draw away against Osasuna (1-1) and a deserved victory at home against Las Palmas (2-1). In that last game, they made some rotations, including resting their best players: wingers Juan Cruz and Franquesa, who started on the bench. Once they entered the pitch, the game changed completely, with both of them scoring the two goals.

So far, they have been a very competitive team, showing that they will be difficult to beat and are in good form. They struggled in the second half against Osasuna, where one could argue that they even deserved to lose, as they conceded many chances. However, Osasuna is a strong home team, and I don’t really expect Valladolid to put on such a performance or apply similar pressure.

Valladolid is a team that I believe will eventually encounter problems. The coach has been under scrutiny since last season (despite achieving promotion), and as soon as the team hits a rough patch, he is likely to be sacked. Fans are against him, and some players are as well.

Furthermore, Valladolid has a very weak squad, partly due to the mandatory signings they had to make because of promotion clauses. In the weekend game against Real Madrid, they made a lot of rotations so their best players (like Raúl Moro) will be fresh for this match.

In the first round, they beat Espanyol 1-0, but honestly, that game was very easy for them. They generated very little danger, and Espanyol was a very easy team to beat. However, I believe that Valladolid will struggle a lot to score goals this season. They are lacking quality up front, don’t have a reliable scorer, and don’t have good players in attack.

Both teams are at the same level: newly promoted, defensive teams, difficult to beat, and competitive. However, I see Leganés as the better side here. They have more chemistry, motivation, and better tactics. Last season in the second division, they drew both games (0-0 and 1-1), and I think that both teams would be content with a draw here. I expect a very tight game with very few goals, possibly even none. Both teams will need to be really effective to win this fixture, if they do.

Leganés has given me better impressions so far, so I see them as totally capable of avoiding defeat here. A goalless draw is very possible in this fixure.
