Spain is a much better team here.

Brazil managed to qualify with a lot of luck as one of the best third qualified in the groups. However, I had zero expectatives on them. They have a weak squad, where only the legendary Marta has experience and quality at her 38 years old.

The best Brazil’s player so far, undoubtedly, has been goalkeeper Lorena. And this is a clear signal of Brazil’s performance so far. They have conceded a lot of chances and were outplayed in almost all games, but Lorena made amazing saves.

I have also seen too many changes in the lineup and the system. Sometimes with 4-4-2, others with 5-2-3, changes in all positions… This is a signal that the coach doesn’t even have a clear XI yet.

In the group stage they were totally outplayed by Spain and Japan (losing both), whilst against Nigeria was a very equal game but they won 0:1. The quarter final against France was a miracle. France missed a penalty at 16’ from 0:0, had a lot of chances, and dominated the whole game, but goalkeeper Lorena made a great game (as well as the whole defensive line in Brazil) and they found the net at 82’, without too much time for France to react.

However, I can’t see another miracle here. Also because Spain is a much better team than France.

Spain is the current World Cup Champion (2023), and has the best players in the tournament. Majority of their squad is based on players who have won the Champions League with FC Barcelona, and is a team with plenty of experience and quality.

For me they have been one of the best teams in the group stage, winning all three games and conceding only one goal. Their performance against Colombia in the quarter final was terrible. But there are two positive notes from this: they won’t repeat the same, and also gave them a lot of confidence.

They had to make a comeback from 2:0 down (scoring the equalizer at 97’), to finally win and qualify in the penalty shootout. However, they generated a lot of chances (+30 shots) showing that they are a very strong team and difficult to beat, and we can’t say that the victory wasn’t fair.

In the group stage Spain won 2:0 and totally outplayed Brazil, showing a huge difference between both teams. I expect Spain to do the same here, generating plenty of chances, and they just need to defend better as they did against Colombia and avoid conceding.

The quality difference between both teams is huge and I expect Spain to qualify easily here.
