Almeria was favorite in the odds (and according to experts as well) in the playoff vs Girona (odds was around 1.60-1.70 to qualify, 2.20-2.40 for Girona), and I agreed with that. Almeria is a very strong team in La Liga 2, a team made to be promoted. The best example is that the previous coach was fired when the team was 2nd on table because the club was very ambitious and wanted more.

They have a very strong attack with one of the best strikers in the league - Sadiq. Is truth that first game was terrible, but it was due to lack of concentration as they conceded two goals in the first 5 minutes of the match.

Cuenca and Brian Rodriguez are out, but they have good replacements. Without them, Almeria will play even more offensive so isn’t a bad deal.

On the other hand, Girona has been the best team of the second part of the season in La Liga 2. After a terrible first part, improved a lot and managed to qualify for the playoffs. Anyway, they are on a similar level as Almeria (personally I see them one step below).

It’s very difficult to keep the motivation and concentration on huge results like this one, where players know that they can lose by 1 or even 2 goals and still qualify. Coach even mentioned that the rotations are possible, as they just had 3 days to rest and will play (most probably) the final next week.

For this match will miss two key players due to injuries: best striker and topscorer Stuani and Pablo Moreno. Striker replacement Valery Fernandez is out as well. Furthermore, another key midfielder like Joel Barcenas is out with Panama (he will be back next week). So Girona will miss 3 solid starters for this fixture.

I’m expecting a match dominated by hosts, where they must show why they were favorites in this playoff and at least, add some interest and pressure in this round. I can’t see Girona winning again. Almeria will be ultra motivated and they have quality enough for at least win here, as they did in March where they won 0-1 deservedly.
