AIK is under performing this season, whilst GAIS is doing the opposite.

AIK is coming to this fixture in the 11th position, with worrying results and especially a worrying defense, with 32 goals conceded in 15 games. However, they have potential to be in the TOP3, as have one of the best squads in the league. Players like striker Ioannis Pittas are class above in this league, and he is in great form this season with 9 goals in 15 games already. Faraj is also a top player.

At home AIK is stronger, where they have won 15 of the 20 points they have. And this fixture at the Strawberry Arena will be played with the aim of revenge: GAIS won AIK last weekend, 2:0.

In that game they started well, but also there were a lot of alternatives and not controlled by AIK. GAIS is a strong home team and did a good job, running a lot and making a very good pressing. However, GAIS was very effective and I really doubt they can repeat it. Also AIK showed one more time problems in the set pieces, something which is easy to solve: increasing the concentration in those actions.

AIK has changed the coach recently. With Mikkjal Thomassen made a good performance against Halmstad, winning 1:2 two weeks ago.

I expect some changes in AIK’s team today. Should use a 4-3-3 with more importance to the wings. Pittas and Faraj cannot play together, as Pittas had very few chances (less than usual) last weekend.

On the other hand, GAIS is a newly promoted team, who has one of the worst squads in the Allsvenskan, but is performing really well. However, they are over performing. Their squad value is 3 times less than AIK’s one.

In the previous game they did a good pressing, played with 3 midfielders and as soon as AIK had possession, they made a tactical faults to cut the pace.

However, GAIS has been a weak away team, with only 6 goals scored and 5 defeats in 7 games. They have lost the last 4 away games, being totally outplayed in all of them.

Their first half last weekend against AIK was terrible, and if they repeat the same here they will surely concede some goals. Especially because AIK will put even more pressure from the beginning, as are playing at home.

I believe that AIK will learn from the mistakes made in the previous game, and now have a good chance to win and leave behind the relegation zone, which is just three points below.

I think we’ll see an open game one more time, with chances for both sides. However, AIK has undoubtedly more quality and should have advantage here at their home game. GAIS is a weak team upfront and playing away, is yet to keep the goal to nil this season.
