Krylya Sovetov has started the season with a solid defeat 4:0 against Champions and title contenders Zenit, which surely affected their morale. It’s a continuation of the poor finish of the previous campaign they had, winless in the last 5 rounds.

They are an offensive team which means that they usually leave spaces and concede chances. Against Zenit, conceded 2.39 expected goals, which is the highest number in the whole 1st round of the Russian Premier League. Which means that they were the worst defense in the first round.

They have not made any interesting new transfer for this season, and their striker the argentinian Benjamin Garre is expected to be their key player for this campaign one more time. Last season he was the topscorer of the team with 8 goals.

On the other hand, Rostov is coming from a solid draw against CSKA, who is one of the best teams in the league. They looked good, and the new transfer from Levski (Bulgaria) looked like a good addition for the team - brazilian winger Ronaldo. They also conceded very few chances to CSKA, just 4 shots on target.

Rostov showed a strong defense against CSKA, and also dominated the game with more possession. Against a weaker rival, is expected to see even a better performance with some goals. They have good players upfront to convert. As they won’t be forced to play as defensive as they did against CSKA, Utkin and Kuchaev will have more freedom to bring chances and assists to Ronaldo and Komlichenko.

For this season they have signed some other players, but the core of the team is still the same. Also they have not lost any important player. But as opposed to Krylya, they signed a new player who is really improving the level of the team - winger Ronaldo.

Overall Rostov has a good squad and the ability to adapt to the rival, and after seeing their good performance against CSKA I expect them to be aggressive here and attack, causing troubles to a team like Krylya who is coming with doubts in defense.

I expect a very tight game, where I can’t see any favorites. However, the guests made a better performance in the first round (and both teams played against one of the best sides in the league), and I expect them to be stronger at the beginning of the season.
