It is hard to mention anything overly positive about their offense. Their defence, despite not having skilled individuals, has been pretty solid – mainly thanks to a solid structure and the players having a willingness to fight hard. They have conceded 17 goals but their number of expected goals allowed (xGA) is significantly higher. Let's not forget that according to a well-known and respected German website, Transfermarkt.com, Göteborg are very clearly the bigger team here. Indeed, their players are valued at an estimated around 18 million euros. The Västerås squad, on the other hand, is valued at only about 8.10 million. This is a very low number by the Allsvenskan standards!

Göteborg are in 13th place with 17 points to their account but their number of xPTS is 21.11. I have slightly lowered their power rating from the in-depth preseason analysis but the bookies seem to have reacted more heavily and clearly undervalue Göteborg.. Their offense is not great but their offensive players are still much more creative and skilled than those of Västerås.. They have the potential to improve significantly in this area of the game.. They have netted the ball 14 times in this league but their number of xG is higher. Their defence has worked reasonably well, they have allowed 21 goals and silly defensive mistakes have been pretty rare. Göteborg have won three games in a row at home, in front of pretty loud fans – by Swedish standards! Västerås, on the other hand, have lost four of their six last matches on the road. Yes, Göteborg will be without Abdullah, Carneil, Dahlberg and Johansson. Even with the expected lineups, taking Göteborg's potential and substantial home advantage into account, I see the hosts having a 56% chance of winning. Odds of around 2.10 are widely available on the home win at the time of posting this preview.

 In their last game Göteborg defeated Hammarby 1-0 on the road as pretty clear underdogs – priced around 3.60 to win by the bookies. This was clearly too high! Hammarby are a dangerous team, currently in 6th place in the standings. They had 68% ball possession but Göteborg recorded more goal attempts, shots on goal as well as corner kicks. Hammarby had more shots off target though. Before this Göterborg lost to Värnamo 0-2 on the road partly due to a silly mistake.. The hosts had one more shot on goal (4-3) and generated more in  expected goals (xG) but Göteborg had more corner kicks, attacks (140-88) and dangerous attacks – 66-36. The final score is, indeed, somewhat misleading.. Before this they beat Norrköping 1-0 at home but I was unfortunately not able to watch this game. Västerås, on the other hand, lost to a team from Superttan, Degerfors 1-3 on the road! Before this Västerås were not at their best but beat the rock-bottom team, Norrköping, 2-1 at home. They deserved to win but did not truly impress me as a whole.. They would have to play much better to beat Göteborg.. In round 13 Västerås played at a satisfactory level at home, despite losing to Häcken 1-2. However, Häcken were very far from their best despite – mainly thanks to having much more individual skill than Västerås – grabbed the hard-fought win through Inoussas's 2-1 goal in the 86th minute.
