I expect a very tight game here.

Yes, Argentina is the main favorite and everybody is expecting them to win the title, but I don’t see it very easy for them.

They have had a very easy way for this final. Group stage was with two teams like Peru and Chile who didn’t even score a single goal in 3 games, and also Canada who has been a terrible team in defense and very vulnerable. Not only this: Canada was aso their rival in ½ finals, which was another easy game.

The only competitive team they faced so far was Ecuador in the quarter-finals, where they struggled a lot and had to win in penalties. In that game I saw a very poor performance by Argentina, lacking pace and ideas upfront, which was worrying. And I believe that Colombia is a much better team than Ecuador. They played a WC Qualifiers game in 2023 in Ecuador where they drew 0:0 but Colombia dominated that game and deserved to win.

Argentina of course has more experience, and they have had one more day to rest, but in terms of quality I see Colombia at the same level and in terms of motivation/confidence, in a much better mood.

Colombia is full of confidence after beating in the semi-finals the team which was the main title contender for me: Uruguay. They made a great game and showed why have an amazing unbeaten run of 28 games in a row, which is historycal. Between those games we can see very strong teams like Spain, Germany, Uruguay, Brazil… Curiously, their last defeat was in 2022 against Argentina, in the World Cup Qualifiers.

They also managed to avoid defeat and eliminate another very strong team like Brazil, who wasn’t at their best level but Brazil is Brazil, and isn’t an easy team to beat in a Copa America ¼ finals.

James has been amazing so far and the best player of the tournament, undoubtedly. Not only for me: he has been the MVP of all 5 rounds played so far, thanks to his great performances and the 6 assists given so far (plus 1 goal).

Colombia has their best chance in a long time to win a title. They have a great team, are full of confidence and are coming in great form after beating two very strong teams which could be easily at the same level as Argentia, although in my opinion Uruguay is above them at the moment.

Colombia has been in my opinion the best team in the tournament so far. I’m only worried about their right wing where Muñoz is suspended and Arias will be his replacement. However, Colombia showed that they are a very competitive team, very strong in defense and totally able to compete against anyone. The way they beat Uruguay, surviving the whole second half with 10 players, gave them a huge boost of morale and motivation to compete and even to beat another strong team like Argentina.

Argentina will need to be at their best level to beat Colombia. However, I have some doubts about if they will be able to it, whilst if Colombia continues at the same level are totally able to avoid the defeat here.
