But the way they did it was so sure that at no point did it seem that the French could threaten them. As I said in the analysis of that game, they had problems with the absence of players, but their substitutes did a more than good job. First of all Dani Olmo, who came into form at the right moment and scored in all 3 games of the elimination phase. In addition to the goals, his influence on Spain's game is huge and he will certainly cause a lot of problems for the English. The Spaniards will be stronger for Carvajal and Le Normand in this match, which will make them an extremely difficult opponent. I honestly don't expect that the Spaniards will want this match to go to extra time, because they simply haven't shown that style of play in any game. Until now, they were behind in the matches against Georgia and France and they immediately wanted to achieve a turnaround, to control the game until the very end. As for the English, they again secured passage with a late goal. Whether it's deserved or not, that's not for me to judge. As for Spain, the match did not start well for them either. Xavi Simmons put the Dutch in the lead, and 10 minutes later a penalty was awarded to England, which was more than debatable. Kane sent a shot towards the goal and at the moment when the shot was already taken, there was contact between him and Dumfries, which the referee characterized as a penalty. What followed was the performance everyone expected from England in this tournament. They played very fast, created chances, shot from distance, created excess on the flank and it must be admitted that they were close to the second goal in those moments. In my opinion, the Dutch approach to the game had a big impact on that. They seemed a bit scared and unsure of their game, and the lack of Gakpo in their game was obvious, especially in the first half. In the second half, England returned to the way they have been playing throughout the tournament. Countless passes in the middle of the field, often returning the ball back and without any excessive desire to attack the opponent's goal. The Netherlands was a much better opponent in the second half and they were very close to the second goal, but they lacked concentration in the finish of the actions. England sent one shot on target in that half, which was enough for them to reach the final. In all three games after the group stage, it must be said that they had a lot of luck. It seems that they "slipped" on the individual quality and experience of the players, but I honestly think that an overly cautious approach to the game will not be useful against Spain. Spain is full of quality and experienced players, who, unlike the Netherlands, will certainly not succumb to the pressure of this game. I am convinced that England will try to slow down the pace of the game and that they will play without much risk, because we all know how little it takes for the Spaniards to score. But, unfortunately for England, they are not the only ones being questioned in this match. Spain likes to be in the lead and let them dictate the rhythm of the game and I'm pretty sure they'll manage to win in the regular 90 minutes.
