Good odds here for France. Both teams have been disappointing in the group stage but I see much more potential in France.

France finished second, narrowly behind the Austrians. They won just one game, which was the 1st round, but need to remember that Mbappe missed the second one and had to play with a mask in the third one. Anyway, they deserved to win the last one against Poland.

They have not been great but they have conceded just one goal in three games, and they have the ability in their team to control the game. Les Bleus have for me the best squad in the competition and are among the main title contenders.

They have scored just 2 goals so far, and none of them have been in open play (own goal and penalty), and that’s worrying. However, they generated many chances, especially against Poland (2.41 expected goals), and incredibly missed them. Given their quality, goals will come for sure.

Mbappé looks comfortable with the mask and will be the key player here. We’ve not seen the best from him yet. Austria made a great defense in the first round, where he also missed a goal which he usually never misses. He looks comfortable with the mask and surely will be ready to perform at his best level, which is yet to be shown. Belgium has a good defense, but it isn’t blessed with speed, something that will be an issue against the electric Mbappe. He’ll be coming in from the left and should have the beating of Timothy Castagne.

Belgium made very poor performances so far. They never really got going, and despite having Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, they don’t really have too much else to offer.

Their defense and part of the midfield lacks pace, which could be an issue defending fast players with high pace like Demebele, Mbappe and Thuram.

The lack of pace in the Belgium team is a big concern, as they look tired. De Bruyne can’t do it all himself, and although Lukaku has played well, he’s yet to score. The biggest issue is the players around them, with Jeremy Doku seemingly adding little beyond trickery and Leandro Trossard not exposing yet either.

The French are ready to explode and play the game we’ve been waiting to see from them in this competition. I see them with more quality, potential and in better form than Belgium.
