Czechia, formerly Czech Republic, and Turkey lock horns in this EURO 2024 group F game at Volksparkstadion in Hamburg early Thursday morning Beijing time. A match of slightly worse than average quality by this tournament's standards is expected here. The bookies are of course aware of this fact and it affects the odds here.. In my expert opinion Czechia should not be the favourites here! Indeed, in my expert opinion the bookmakers and recreational bettors give their "must win" factor too much emphasis!  We will take the Turkey +0.5 goals handicap option! Yes, Czechia are ranked better than Turkey in the FIFA Ranking - 34th versus Turkey's 42nd but this is incorrect and I will not be fooled by the ranking! Czechia should definitely not be ranked in the top-45! Turkey are, in all honesty, not great at defending and I do not believe they will simply try to defend a draw here.. They have much more individual skill than the Czechs! I recommend that my fans follow especially Arda Güler,19, closely. This super talent plays for Real Madrid! Of course late into the second half Turkey will avoid risks. Czechia have only one point to their account and have failed to impress me offensively.. They have scored only two goals so far.

Czechia faced Portugal in the first round and lost only 1-2. Portugal's F.Conceicao scored the winning goal in the 90th+2 minute. Even so, Portugal were the much better team on the pitch! Yes, their attacks were slightly too slow and predictable in the 1st half but they improved a lot in the 2nd half. They had a close to 70% ball possession and also recorded many more goal attempts (19-5), shots on target (8-1), corner kicks (13-0), total passes, completed passes, attacks and dangerous attacks. The xG numbers - 1.89-0.21 - reflect the events on the pitch well. Indeed, Czechia were lame offensively, even taking into account the fact that Portugal are a strong team. However, the main reason behind the seemingly close game was Portugal's disappointing offense, not Czechia being particularly great.. Czechia did, however, defend well in the first half in this game. Defending and relying mainly on counter attacks, corner kicks, free kicks - or a possible penalty kick suits their style of play much better than being forced to be active and go for the win – as they will have to against Turkey! Against Georgia, one of the worst teams in this tournament, Czechia were priced around 1.75-1.80 to win by the bookies but played a disappointing 1-1 draw. They did generate much more in xG than Georgia though. Even so, in the injury time Georgia had a great chance to score a 2-1 goal! Czechia's important striker P. Schick, who plays for the German Bundesliga champions, Bayer Leverkusen, is questionable as he has been suffering from a calf injury.. Even if plays he is not expected to be at his best.. As for Turkey Bardakci is out due to two many yellow cards. Akaydin, Kahveci and Kokcu are questionable at the time of writing this analysis.

Turkey beat Georgia 3-1 in the opening round but failed to impress me. They had 52% ball possession and the expected goals (xG) numbers were 2.39-2.11.Turkey were very clear favourites in this game - priced around 1.65 to win on the betting market but were, in all honesty, a slight disappointment as a whole.. They can improve significantly. However, I want to highlight that Georgia played above their normal level in this match! Turkey lost to Portugal 0-3 and the Portuguese deserved the three points. However, Turkey had their chances in the 1st half and lost mainly due to silly defensive mistakes.. The 0-2 goal was an own goal by Akaydin..  he final score is very misleading! Portugal had only two more goal attempts than Turkey – 12-10. Both teams had three shots on target. Furthermore Turkey had many more corner kicks (9-1) as well as attacks -44-39. The xG numbers were "only" 0.83-1.75 in Portugal's favour.
