I don’t see Mexico such favorite here.

Venezuela, although didn’t make a good preparation for this tournament as they didn’t play friendlies since March, are coming with motivation and also quality to this tournament.

They won the first round showing a good competitive spirit, making a comeback to the first goal received by Ecuador - with all said, Ecuador was playing with 10 due to a red card to Valencia from 22’.

Venezuela has improved a lot in recent years, and their main player is Girona’s midfielder Yangel Herrera who made a great season in La Liga and played very well against Ecuador. They also have some known faces from Europe such as Darwin Machis or veteran striker Rondon.

On the other hand, I’m betting against Mexico because for me they left many doubts in their debut against Jamaica. Achieved a narrow win 1:0 but conceded chances and Jamaica were close to equalize. Although I bet for their victory and we won, I saw many fragilities in Mexico’s team.

I don’t have big expectations for this team in the Copa America. Their level is very poor, they made bad performances in the friendlies as preparation for this tournament, don’t have too much quality and I don’t see them reaching the latter stages.

They are in a generational change, as left out of the squad some veterans and experienced players (Ochoa, Hirving Lozano, Raul Jimenez), replacing them by some young promises. Coach Lozano is under big pressure in this tournament, as if they don’t make a good performance could be fired.

Their best player and captain Edson Alvarez will miss this match due to an injury suffered in the previous game against Jamaica. He will be replaced by Romo who was the best player in the game for Mexico in my opinion.

Another key player for them - striker Gimenez, made a poor game against Jamaica and was subbed-off at 68’ when the result still was 0:0.

I believe we'll see a tight game without too many chances. I expect Mexico to struggle to beat Venezuela, especially without Edson Alvarez who is a key player in this team. Furthermore, a draw won’t be a bad deal for both teams: they have 3 points whilst Ecuador and Jamaica have 0, so with 4 points both of them would be almost qualified to ⅛ finals. Venezuela will be very motivated in this fixture and have quality enough to avoid a defeat here.
