Portugal is consider one of the favourites to win the whole tournament and if we only look at talent, yes, we can say that, they have too much talent to not be an favourite it only depends how they schedule will be in the elimination rounds because their weakness in their mental state against teams like Germany for example where they just crumble and it looks like they could clash in the semi-finals but first things first, we have the group stage first where Portugal is the clear favourite to end in 1st place. Portugal made some changes, they got Fernando Santos out and recruited Coach Roberto Martinez to give some new life to the squad who was looking flat and Roberto Martinez could not have a better start with the team by ending the qualification of their group in 1st place with 10 wins in 10 games and an impressive 36:2 in goals. Of course Portugal was the big favourite in the group but still, winning all their games against Slovakia, Luxembourg, Iceland, Bosnia and Liechtenstein is still impressive. In their preparation for the Euro 2024 they played two friendlies, lost to Croatia 1:2 in a game where they looked awful in the first half but after some changes from the Coach in the 2nd half Portugal looked good and in the 2nd game they beat easily Ireland by 3:0 and looked solid, the big problem for Roberto Martinez is to decide who plays and which system because he has players for everything.

Czech can also make it in this group because of the format of the tournament, the 4 best 3rd places move to the elimination round too and maybe they can manage to make that way or even end in 2nd place because they can make a surprise against Turkey but even against Georgia it will not be an easy task but of course, Portugal is the big team in the group and they will start with that. In their qualification they ended up in 2nd place with 4 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss and 12:6 in goals, their group was wide open with Albania, Poland, Moldova and Faroe Islands but it was a group with lack of quality, Poland isn't that team from the past anymore and they managed to conquer the 2nd place behind Albania. In their friendlies for preparation for this tournament they decided to play against Malta and North Macedonia and won those games by 7:1 and 2:1, this games were cleary to give them confidence for the tournament.

Portugal is the big favourite here and for many reasons, when Portugal beat France in the Euro 2016, tournament played in France, Portugal had a huge support of their supporters because tons of Portuguese people lived there and guess what, in Germany it's the same case, Portugal will have huge support in Germany from their imigrants who live there and we already saw how Portugal was received when they arrived in Germany and enviroment and stadium will for sure be on their side and the players already spoke about it and we already saw their first training sessions with everything full of Portuguese people behind the team and supporting. The other reasons is simple, Czech has good players like Schick, Soucek, Barak and Coufal but than you look at Portugal and you see players like Joao Felix, Rafael Leao, Neves, Bruno Fernandes, Neto, Vitinha, Pepe, Inacio, Dias, Nuno Mendes, Cancelo, Jota, Matheus Nunes, Palhinha, Ramos, Neto and Ronaldo who showed a great performance against Ireland and seems ready to attack this Euro's again, overall Portugal has a very deep team and great options in the bench for Roberto Martinez to use and with all these said, I do believe that Portugal will start here with a win over Czech, I think we can see here a 2:0 or 2:1 win for Portugal.
