I really don’t see Spain favorite here.

Spain has several players in poor form, like striker Morata or central back Le Normand. Also key midfielder Pedri isn’t at their best level as he has been injured during the season for a long period.

Other players simply don’t have the level for a top team who wants to fight for this title, like Cucurella.

The only players Spain have in good form are Carvajal, Rodri and the young wingers who have zero experience but are the key for the team - Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal. In both of them I see the main chances for Spain to win games, with their pace and dribbling ability. But if Morata doesn’t improve, their assists will be useless. Morata has been failing many clear chances in the last months.

Spain is a team able to beat anyone, but I don’t see them as strong favorites in this tournament. The only top player we have (top3 in his position) is Rodri. The rest; is a very average team. Also the coach is worse than others we have in this tournament, as he has very few experience in this tournaments and with top teams.

On the other hand, Croacia is an ultra competitive team and difficult to beat, as shown in previous international tournaments, where for example in previous World Cup they beat Brazil.

I believe they have some veterans and is a squad who could struggle in the latter stages of the tournament, as physically they aren't the best team. But meanwhile, will be extremely competitive.

Have some young players who are great such as Gvardiol, one of the best defenders at the moment; and the experienced players Modric and Brozovic who are class above.

Also upfront Budimir is in great form and indeed scored more goals than Morata in La Liga (playing in a worse team).

The only areas where I believe that Croacia will struggle is in the wings, with the pace and dribbling of Williams and Yamal. But as said, Gvardiol is one of the best defenders in Europe at the moment so he should be able to keep them quiet and out of the game.

The midfield battle will be important as well, with a great fight between Rodri-Pedri and Croatian strong midfield with Modric-Kovacic-Brozovic. However, I see Croatia superior here, given the poor form of Pedri.

I expect a tight game, where both teams will try to control the game and concede few chances. If Spain wants to win against a competitive team like Croatia they need to be very effective, and it’s something they have been lacking recently due the poor form of Morata.

Furthermore, I see Spain’s defense very vulnerable. Cucurella isn’t even a regular starter with Chelsea, Le Normand is in poor form and Laporte is playing in Saudi Arabia. Only goalkeeper Unai Simon and Carvajal are strong at the back.

For me a draw is very possible here. But I can’t see Spain favorite. Croacia will be a very difficult team to beat and won’t be easy for this Spanish team.
