UZBEKISTAN - SAUDI ARABIA

Uzbekistan has a great team and is one of the main title contenders, but I see them losing here against Saudi Arabia.

Uzbekistan has a generation with a lot of talent. Made great performances so far being the best team in the tournament with 3/3 wins, 10 goals scored and still yet to concede. They looked excellent with possession and also with counters, but also their rivals were very weak.

So far I have not seen any weaknesses in Uzbekistan’s play though, but I see them struggling in this fixture as Saudi Arabia has much more level than their rivals so far. Surely they’ll be looking for revenge after losing the U23 AFC Asian Cup in 2022 against Saudi Arabia in the final (0:2).

Several players left positive impressions in attack for Uzbekistan so far: striker Ruslanbek Jiyanov, Jasurbek Jaloliddinov, Abbosbek Fayzullaev… They are a team with lot of quality and experience.

But Saudi Arabia is, at least, at the same level. They won the 2022 tournament without conceding a single goal, and have a lot of quality in the final third. In the games against Thailand and Tayikistan they confirmed that they absolutely have the talent in the squad to ensure they are challengers for the title.

Their quality of counter-attacking play is the best in the competition, and that is an area Uzbekistan will have to be incredibly wary of in this fixture.

They lost the last game against Iraq (when they were already qualified) but played with some rotations. In that game they conceded two goals very easily, and I’m sure they’ll work well on this game to improve their concentration and concede less.

Saudi Arabia are just too good of a team in every department. Have some amazing platers such as Abdullah Radif, who scored a hat-trick in the Thailand’s game, Ayman Yahya who has three goals as well, Haitham Asiri who looked especially dangerous against Tajikistan, and I think he’ll cause problems again here, and Ahmed Al Ghamdi who will be one of their key threats in attack. It's clear that Saudi Arabia has several exceptional talents.

This match could be an anticipated final. Both teams are probably the best in the tournament so the difference is almost zero. Both at the same level, have a lot of quality and arguments to win here. Both have quality in open play, in counters, and solid defenses.

Uzbekistan won the recent fixture 2:1 in the Asian Games ¼ finals, but Saudi Arabia beat them in the AFC U23 2022.

In a match like this one where both teams are at the same level, I can’t choose any favorite. I’d say that even Saudi Arabia looks better for me: they have the home advantage as this tournament is being played in the Middle East.

IRAQ - VIETNAM

Iraq has made a great tournament so far. They managed to qualify after beating Saudi Arabia 1:2 in the previous game, one of the best teams in the tournament.

In the first round suffered an unlucky defeat against Thailand, as they created many more chances than them but were unable to make any of them count. However, they improved their finishing in their next games, with a solid victory 2:4 against Tayikistan and scoring also twice to a great defense like Saudi Arabia.

Defensively they still don’t look especially secure, as they have some frailties and their marking definitely needs to improve, but in attack Iraq have plenty of talented players capable of causing opponents problems.

Jassim is clearly their main threat in the final third, and is a player not only blessed with terrific individual quality but also the ability to capitalize upon that to produce results with direct goal involvements for his team. Nihad Mohammed is also a player who has an important role in the team, as well as Saadoun.

After their qualifying and the way they did it I think they are now with a lot of confidence, and have a great chance here to reach the semi finals. Their priority here will be to be sure that they don’t concede the first goal, but after that will be difficult to break the Vietnamese defense.

Vietnam is a very weak team who managed to qualify. They had easy rivals so far, put in an impressive performance in their opening game, winning back possession well and building with good passing combinations to defeat Kuwait 3-1 but were also helped by the terrible Kuwait’s defense. The second game against Malaysia was favored by an amazing free kick goal, and a penalty, in a terrible performance by Malaysia.

In their last game, when they were already qualified, they made some changes in the lineup, and were totally outplayed by Uzbekistan, losing 3:0. Uzbekistan is at the same level as Saudi Arabia, and Saudi Arabia suffered a defeat 1:2 against Iraq. Another good example is that Vietnam lost against Saudi Arabia 1:3 in September, in the Asian Games.

They have quality in the attacking combinations, as well as set pieces where Khuat is a player capable of making an impact in those situations.

For Vietnam if they want to win this need to be very effective upfront, and also not concede chances. In every single game they made some big mistakes, but their rivals weren’t good enough to capitalize on them.

Iraq has more quality and experience, so I see them favorites to win and qualify here.
