Saudi Arabia, who is one of the main title contenders, should win this fixture easily.

Thailand made a big surprise winning 0:2 Iraq in the first round, where Iraq were heavily favorites. Thailand conceded pretty much, and were lucky because Iraq created more chances than Thailand in that game but were unable to make any of them count. However, Iraq is not at the same level as Saudi Arabia, Iraq is a much worse team.

Thailand made good counters and transitions, but I’m sure that here won’t have such facilities. They have pace and fast players but Saudi Arabia is also a good physical team able to control them. Their key players here will be Lyon young winger Erawan Garnier, as well as their best player - striker Teerasak Poeiphimai, who already scored in the previous game.

If Thailand wants to achieve some points from here they need to make again a perfect game and rival missing their chances, something I really doubt could happen here. They made a poor tournament in the previous Asian Games and here I dont expect them to reach the latter stages of the tournament.

On the other hand, Saudi Arabia, who won the 2022 edition of this tournament without conceding a single goal, are the favorites in this group and I also expect them to be one of the teams challenging to win the title again.

They always have plenty of quality in the final third, and in this tournament Ahmed Al Ghamdi will be one of their key threats in attack, as well as their midfielder Ayman Yahya who has experience with the senior team and already scored two goals in the previous game.

The first game finished 4:2 for Saudi Arabia against Tajikistan. They conceded two goals, but generated a lot of chances and made very good passing, with a very impressive performance. There they confirmed that they have the quality needed to be a title contender.

They also made a good Asian Cup, losing against the Winners - Uzbekistan. Have an amazing ability to make fast and effective counters, and definitely are one of the best teams in the tournament playing with spaces. Thailand isn’t a very defensive team so I expect them to leave spaces to Saudi Arabia here, and there is where they can cause troubles to the weak Thailand’s defense.

Guests are a much better team and have much more quality. Both teams also played a friendly game in 2023 where they drew 2:2, with Thailand scoring a lucky goal at 95’.

Just to compare the quality difference between both teams: Thailand were totally outplayed by Indonesia (1:3) in the AFF U23 in August, while Saudi Arabia beat them in a friendly played three weeks ago 3:1. Also Thailand lost 3:1 against Jordan in the same tournament just one month ago, and Saudi Arabia beat Jordan two times in the last months.
