I thought long and hard whether to take the obvious big favourite here, and Lahti have traditionally been one of the most difficult opponents but in the end the rising HJK odds made up my mind.

There have been - and still are - quite a many injuries at HJK, but as discussed earlier they can have players enough for 2 title contending lineups, so the importance of absent players is not very big.

The lineups below tells us something:

The only surprise at HJK is the striker Luis Henrique who came to the cup final from bench only to shoot a penalty, which he missed! Management is giving him a rare chance to start and bounce back, and there is no hungrier player on the pitch today to succeed. If he fails, well there is for example Roope Riski on the bench among other 6 good professionals.

At Lahti there is ex-HJK keeper Reguero, a very hazardous bunch of centre-backs a couple of other old-timers like Arkivuo and Hervas,and apart from Assehnoun who would deserve a transfer to a bigger club there is not much threat. At bench they have another two players with HJK background, but far from their prime.

So far, what has happened this year?

HJK have drawn twice 0-0 with 2nd favourites KuPS, but against these more regular sides Ilves, Honka and Inter HJK have scored 11.

Lahti met KuPS last time, KuPS who rotated strongly after winning the cup a few days earlier. They won over Inter in very lucky way.

Today Lahti have one key man suspended, the management is still a questionmark due inexperience, and if HJK keep up the pace and pressure the shaky defense from the start then any odds for -1.5 at more 2 would be very justified. And as this is exactly what HJK have done this season I see it happening also today, HJK scoring at least 3 and beating the handicap.
