A very important game for both teams.

Levante, although having a strong squad, is 11th in the table but just 5 points below promotion, which is their main target. They are a difficult team to beat (only 7 defeats so far) but also lost many points due to the high amount of draws - they are the team with more draws so far, 14 in 31 games.

For this fixture they’ll miss important midfielder Giorgi Kochorashvilli, playing with Georgia national team. Buba Sangaré is also out with Spain U17.

They have won just two games in 2024 (10 played), and they are struggling because since February, when they fired their coach Calleja, the interim coach is the sports director Miñambres.

On the other hand, Elche is fighting for the TOP2, which grants promotion automatically without playoff. They are third at the moment tied at points with Espanyol and just one above Eibar, so the margin is small and they need to achieve as many points as possible.

They have a strong squad and promotion is their main target. They are the most in form team of the league at the moment, with 4 victories in a row and just one draw in the last 5, against Eibar who is in the top positions. They have lost just one of the last 10 games, which was an unlucky one against Amorebieta.

Elche is playing very well at the moment and is a serious promotion contender, so the confidence and motivation is high. With only 25 goals conceded, they have one of the best defenses in the league: just leaders Leganes have conceded less.

The previous game finished 0:0 with Elche dominating, having the double of chances and generating the double of expected goals (1.90) than Levante (0.95). They were better but weren’t able to convert the chances.

So Elche is in much better form and has at least the similar quality as Levante, which makes me see this game as 50-50 with Elche as slight favorites.
