However, given that they are the hosts of the upcoming European Championship, their ambitions are high. Germany did not participate in the qualifiers, but during 2023 they played several friendly matches, achieving three wins, two draws and even six defeats in that period, which is below all expectations when it comes to this national team. In their last appearance at the end of November, Germany suffered a 2-0 defeat to Austria. That's why Julian Nagelsmann decided to change some players from the previous friendlies for the upcoming clash with France, so Deniz Undav, Maximilian Mittelstaedt, Waldemar Anton, Aleksandar Pavlović and others received surprising calls. Even with the strongest team, Germany seemed far from a well-coordinated team and they certainly have big difficulties compared to the previous period.
