Okyama welcome Mito for this Japanese J2 League round 5 at City Light Stadium Wednesday afternoon Beijing time. The level of this league is somewhat mediocre by global standards - for a second tier I mean. Football fans and us profit-hungry bettors can expect a match of slightly better than average quality by this league's standards here. I have, as result, raised their power rating - seemingly more than the bookies have.. This rating reflects the teams' pure class with the best possible starting lineups – excluding the motivation factor and possible fatigue – caused by a demanding match schedule. Last season Okayama finished in 10th place but were unlucky in terms of expected points (xPTS) they will almost certainly do better this season! I trust most of their players – as well as their coach – a lot! Mito finished in 17th place last season and had a poor score difference of 49:66 to be precise. Okayama top the standings with 10 points in their pocket. They played very well-organized football and have allowed only one goal so far. Understandably their number of expected goals allowed (xGA) is higher but not substantially. Their defence has not shown any obvious weaknesses so far. Their offense is not quite top-level as they lack some top-skill in offense but their offensive structure is excellent! They have scored six goals.

Okayama has been a very difficult opponent for Mito in recent years. Indeed, they have not won any of the five games against them. Last season Okayama beat Mito 1-0 at home. Okayama have won four of their last five games and have looked confident on the pitch. They seem to be in a kind of a "flow state". They have now won three consecutive games. In their last game they beat Fujieda MYFC 1-0 on the road despite being far from their best. The match was pretty balanced as a whole. In round 3 they comfortably defeated Renofa Yamaguchi 1-0 at home and recorded many more goal attempts (17-11), shots on goal, shots off target, corner kicks (8-1), total passes, completed passes, attacks and dangerous attacks. Before this Okayama swept past Tegebajaro Miyazaki 4-1 on the road. It was a YBC Levain Cup clash. In the opening round they were on fire – crushing Tochigi 3-0 in front of loud home fans. Okayama recorded an impressive 20 goal attempts. They defended well – allowing the visitors only one shot on goal. The hosts also generated much more in expected goals (xG). Tokushima have lost four games in a row. Their only win came in the opening round against Iwaki 1-0 at home. They did not deserve the win though! Indeed, Iwaki recorded many more goal attempts (14-11), shots on goal (7-2), shots off target, total passes as well as completed passes. In their last game they were not awful but still lost to Tokushima 1-2 at home as clear favourites – priced around 1.95 to win on the betting market. Before this they lost to Vegalta Sendai 0-1 on the road. The hosts deserved the win. They recorded many more goal attempts, shots on goal (6-2) corner kicks (8-5), total passes, completed passes as well as dangerous attacks. Before this Mito were very disappointing – losing to YSCC on the road as solid favourites on the betting market. YSCC play in the J3 League. It was an YBC Levain Cup opening round game. The biggest bookmakers that accept the biggest bets from customers offer odds of around 1.75 on the hosts to send Mito home empty-handed. This is, based on my expert analysis, too high and I'm happy to place a bet on Okayama! According to a well-known and respected German website, Transfermarkt.com the hosts are the much bigger team here. Indeed, their squad has a total market value of some nine million euros. This is, however, a little too low in my opinion.. The Mito squad is valued at about five million.
