Their number of expected goals (xG) is significantly smaller – 5.98 to be precise. Six of these nine goals were scored in their last game, against Kumamoto on the road. The final score of this very bizarre game was 0-6! Yes, they deserved to win but the hosts had 51% ball possession and even recorded more attacks – 99-90. Kumamoto played much below their normal level in this game and were completely disorganized defensively. Their player W. Iwashita was sent off in the 71th minute.

Iwaki currently occupy the 5th place but I would be very surprised to see them in the top-8 at the end of the season. They are, after all, a pretty small team in terms of players' estimated total market value – according to Transfermarkt.com. They have allowed three goals – one less than Kofu – but Iwaki's number of expected goals allowed (xGA) is higher than the hosts'. Kofu have won three of their four games in this league this season. Last season Kofu beat Iwaki 1-0 at home – recording many more goal attempts (8-2), shots on goal as well as shots off target. In their last game Kofu beat Montedio Yamagata 1-0 away from home and deserved the narrow win. A draw would not have been too unjustified either though. Kofu recorded one more shot on goal and goal attempt. In round 3 they were a little disappointing and lost to Tochigi 1-2 at home. The visitors played a better than usual game though. Kofu had 62% ball possession and recorded more shots off goal corner kicks, attacks and dangerous attacks. Tochigi had two more goal attempts though. In round 2 Kofu beat Mito 2-1 on the road after a solid performance. In the opening round they swept past Tokushima – winning 5-1 away from home – priced around 2.40 to win by the bookies. Before crushing Kumamoto Iwaki beat Osaka, a small team that play in J3 League, 2-0 away from home as very clear favourites. Not a superb performance as a whole.. It was a YBC Levain Cup first round battle. Before this Iwaki beat Kagoshima United 3-1 at home but the visitors had 52% ball possession and recorded more attacks and dangerous attacks. Both teams had five shots on goal. Iwaki had more goal attempts though. Odds of around 1.95 on the home win are offered by most of the biggest bookies and I'm happy to bet on Kofu here! I would not be surprised to see Kofu's odds dropping before the kickoff as smart money is expected to pile up on them!
