Rayo Vallecano VS Real Betis

Rayo Vallecano and Betis lock horns in this Spanish LaLiga round 29 battle at Campo de Futbol de Vallecas in Madrid late early Monday morning Beijing time. This is the second-best league on the planet. Football enthusiasts and us serious, profit-hungry football bettors can expect a match of somewhat average level by this league's standards here. Most importantly, my fans and I have yet another very strong betting option to make more profit! We have won five picks in a row! Betis currently occupy the 7th place in the standings. They have a decent 42 points in the pocket. However, their number of expected points (xPTS) is marginally higher. They have scored 34 goals in LaLiga so far this season. Their offense is definitely not at the same level as those of the top-5 team. It has a good structure but it has lacked some speed and creativity – especially against the big teams. Even so, their number of expected goals (xG) is 40.12. Their defence, on the other hand, has no obvious weaknesses.. They have allowed only 31 goals in LaLiga. This is three goals less than Girona (2nd place) and Barcelona (3rd). They are in a fierce fight with Real Sociedad, currently in 6th place with 46 points. The team that ends up in the 6th place earns a place in the UEFA Conference League for next season. Both teams should be equally motivated here.

According to a well-known and respected German website, Transfermarkt.com, the Betis are the much bigger team in terms of players' estimated total market value. Indeed, the Vallecano squad has an estimated market value of some 80 million euros. This is, in my expert opinion, too low though. Around 100 million would be a more realistic number. The Betis squad has a market value of some 200 million – which is also too low! Some 230 million would be a more fair number. Three of their players are undervalued. Vallecano played pretty well last season but this season has been much more difficult – especially results-wise.. They have only 26 points to their account but their number of xPTS is bigger though! They are not safe from relegation. Indeed, Vallecano are in 16th place. The last three teams in this league with a total of 20 clubs will be relegated to LaLiga2. Celta Vigo have 24 points and Cadiz (18th) 22 points in their pocket.. Vallecano have scored only 23 goals and do lack individual skill in offense – to seriously challenge for a top-12 position. Even so, their number of xG is over 30.00 They have conceded 37 goals and their number of expected goals allowed (xGA) is a bit smaller. The home advantage is there, of course, but Raya Vallecano do not have very enthusiastic or loud fans by the LaLiga standards. Rayo lost their last game 0-1 to Alaves, a pretty limited team, away from home. Rayo had 67% ball possession but the hosts recorded more goal attempts (12-9), shots on goal and corner kicks. Before this Rayo Vallecano were not at their best but grabbed a point at home. It was a 1-1 draw against Cadiz. Rayo Vallecano did generate a little more in xG than the visitors though. 

Before losing to Alaves Rayo lost to Girona 0-3 away from home as underdogs. Girona generated 1.84 in xG - Rayo's number was 0.66. Rayo have not won any of their last 10 games and seem to be low in confidence. Moreover, they have lost 7/10 of their last matches. Betis's form has been mediocre lately. They have taken one win, two draws and lost twice in their last 5 games. In their last game they lost to much-improved Villarreal 2-3 at home but had 54% ball possession and recorded many more goal attempts, shots off goal, corner kicks (13-4) as well as dangerous attacks – 60-37. They would have deserved at least a point. Before this Atletico Madrid, a big team that qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals, were too strong and beat Betis 2-1. Yes, the hosts deserved the win but Betis were okay as a whole in this game. They had 57% ball possession and recorded many more attacks (150-97) and dangerous attacks – 48-36. Betis have an edge over the hosts in all areas of the game. The bookies have made a mistake here – offering Rayo odds of only about 2.50 to win. Betis deserve to be the favourites here – even with the expected lineups. We will take the +0.5 goals handicap option to increase our winning streak. I will post several more picks pretty soon!
